It is that time of the year again when we are most inspired to list down what we want to achieve in the next twelve months, hoping that this would be better than the last. Since the year has already started, it is high time for me to create and share with you my 2017 Travel Bucket List. I try to write only the most possible and practical ones considering my would-be busy career life this 2017. Also, there are other items which are carried over from the last year. (READ: My 2016 Travel Bucket List and see how many I have accomplished last year.)
Visit a tripoint
This is a carry-on of my 2016 Travel Bucket List. I almost went to one last year (Austria-Slovakia-Czech Republic), but missed it. Hoping to finally go to one this 2017!
Island hopping in Indonesia
I have been more curious to visit this archipelago in the last few months I was backpacking around Indochina. I have met fellow travelers around who were gushing about this beautiful country and its islands. To think that it is so close to my home country and I haven’t visited it!
See the northern lights
Iceland, baby! Will also be keen to go to Norway and/or Finland and visit some of my friends while there. Aside from the northern lights, I am looking forward to bathe in the Blue Lagoon, too.
Travel to another continent
Been to 25 countries so far, but all of them are concentrated in Europe and Asia. This year, I hope to travel to at least one other continent and continue exploring the world.
Get my yearly 10 new countries
Since 2015, I have decided to have this item included in my yearly travel bucket list. Excited to discover different lands, customs, and cultures this 2017. Last year, I have been to 11 countries. Wanna see where I have been? READ: Life and Travels in 2016: A Year-Ender
Complete traveling around ASEAN
The Philippines is part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, an economic and political cooperation consists of 10 countries in the region. So far, I have visited 6 of them and hopefully travel to the remaining 4 before the year ends.
Travel with a cause
I have been traveling for a while and I think it would be great to travel with a purpose. Prior to studying in Germany, I was active in volunteer work. I realized lately that I have missed that feeling of giving back to society and would like to work on doing two things I love – traveling and volunteering.
Trek in Kyrgzytan
I have not personally met anyone who has been to this tiny country, but I have read posts from some travel bloggers who went there and I was amazed by their photos and stories! I would like to witness such beautiful scenery and trek around Karakol. It would also be a treat to go to Issyk Kul, the second largest alpine lake in the world, and have a peaceful stargazing night in Song Köl.
Go to India
If someone would ask me point blank where my next dream destination would be, I would straightly answer India. I am very much fascinated by the country’s rich history and culture, architecture, food, and most of all, its people. I might have a side trip to Sri Lanka and Maldives while I am already on it!
Attend a Filipino festival
Last year, I was able to attend a local festival in Baguio, Philippines and would like to do it again this 2017. Any recommendation?
Finally go to Mindanao, Philippines
I have traveled frequently around my home country for years, but have never ventured to the South. This year, I want to explore the provinces in Mindanao and learn about their different culture and heritage.
Scale Mt. Pulag or Mt. Ulap
Local and foreign travelers alike rave how beautiful being in the summits of these two mountains. I would like to experience the “sea of clouds” myself and be one with nature.
Travel to at least 10 new provinces in the Philippines
My country has 81 provinces and I plan to visit all of them – at least 10 per year. This is to complement my 10 new countries per year item in this bucket list, too.
Snorkel in Apo Reef
I have seen wonderful photos under the sea in Apo Reef and it makes me want to visit the place this year.
Be in the paradise of Coron, Palawan
I have been to Palawan before, but not in Coron. I would definitely want to go to the winner of the “The most beautiful island in the world” for consecutive years based from ratings of Travel and Leisure Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler, National Geographic Traveler, etc.
These are the items included in my 2017 Travel Bucket List. I really hope I could do and accomplish at least half of them before the year ends. But if not, it is also okay for me. I am open for new ideas and opportunities. Life is one great adventure and sometimes, the unexpected ones are the most memorable. Now who’s with me?
